Oh, and why they go here ... well, I guess it is an elaborated trap with a lot of ingredients .. beer, nice girls, history, central position, strong engineering background ... and Prague is just beautiful, which manager would like to build a competence center somewhere in an Eastern swamp?

Anyway, these days, most of it is just system inertia, I believe and the flywheel will have to invariably stop.

My next programmer will be from Latvia ... or Germany.

Well, Chris, I believe it ends just about now.
In my previous company, half of our revenue (low nine CZK digits) was coming from services provided to and consultants shipped to international clients. I needed a programmer now for a short-time London project and the client decided to hire (sic) a Briton, because the economies just did not work.

A senior Java programmer pays some 50k pounds in the UK. That is 1,5M CZK. Well, just recently, I saw a guy advertising himself as "I am a genius and I want 150k and I know I will get them."

Plus all the (best) people are already engaged. All you get are fickles or rookies.

Slovakia and East is way to go. If you want to be in Prague - build yourself a university ;)
